THANK YOU i hate this mechanic with a firey passion i hope street fighter 7 get rid of this terrible mechanic like I'm all for fast pace aggressive but this mechanic literally makes certain characters broken and unfun to play against even when i win by a clutch i don't feel satisfied or joy its just annoying at that point

I think they were trying hard to not make the 09ers and 016ers cry. People keep saying he's new and he hasn't been labbed enough. I call bs. Lab all you want I don't see how labbing is going to affect that low health. They say it doesn't matter much and yes, this is true...when he had lots of tools, which he doesn't have in SF6. Meh drive rush, raging demon available at 25% health. A whole plethora of stuff as mentioned already but that stupid charged fireball...as a Kimberly player as soon as I see that charging starting I just run slide him or teleport on top of him with a big combo ready. Definitely low end of top tier. Way too many bad matchups and thus inconsistent. I don't want to reference Daigo as he is no longer the player he used to be. But I watch his streams and when he was Ken he was way more consistent usually in the top 30's of legend. With Akuma...one day it's 30, one day it's 200, hell, I even saw him drop down to MR. It's all over the place with Akuma.

Akuma is pretty meh in 6. Way way way too honest. His damage mid screen is trash and has 0 corner carry n side switches. Fireball game is very good but 1 jump in and your tournament could end.

I think you're totally wrong about Tokido persuing playing Akuma. He likes to play cheap characters, period. Akuma has historically been a cheap character in most games (especially in sf4). In sf2 he played Vega and Boxer, sf3 Urien and Chun, sf4 Akuma, sf5 Akuma only in the first character season where he was strong, Urien and Boxer afterwards.

Bro, this is an insane knowledge bomb to drop in a 10 minute video. I've always wondered how they're able to react, this explains a lot. Also the DP buffer on grab is mindblowing. You're doing great work.

The thing is, tokido used Luke in the beginning of SF6, then switched to Ken. It turned out that Luke was the most busted character and arguably the most finalist in any tournament. So it is still early, and once Akuma is fully optimized you will see people complain about how busted he is.

Ken is one of the only (few?) characters that can feint low forward with low short. Doing low forward into DRC is a huge meter waste if you don’t have the confirm, I’d only do it if I was desperate to get in. The OD DP can be baited too, and then you’re dead.

The creators love Braum waaaayyyy too much not to put him in. Plus Vi and Jayce are shoe-ins just off their popularity in Arcane. Caitlyn is probably has a good chance too.

I think akuma is very different then he was in the past. Its more about footsies and fireballs, not tokidos style nowadays maybe. Ken is more fun for him.

Honestly im a game with no health, Akuma having less than anyone is enough to dissuade some from using him. Tokido is also at the level where players essentially can kill Akuma from possibly 1 or 2 interactions, its understandable he may not want to give up Ken's benefits and reliability. There may be some people who will rabidly try to tell me something about Akuma being broken in thier ranked sessions. But 97% of players, them included will never experience the meta nor gameplay Tokido sees to where he would make such a decision on Akuma

There was a ton of hype around Akuma being broke before he even dropped, so it'll def take a bit before people chill out about Akuma being cracked, it's just a massive bias now. No one was complaining Gief was OP s1 when Snake qualified for CCX, people just highlight losing to Akuma a ton now because they expect him to be broke. In reality, Akuma's midscreen damage is average, his cashout CA damage is actually just a bit above average, definitely nothing insane. His corner pressure isn't anything insane, Akuma's biggest strength is his strong FBs but his low health actually does make a big difference. Everyone is just playing Akuma now so it's just given them a bias and 9K health makes you essentially 2 touch, every character in SF6 does so much damage and Akuma struggles from that the most. I'd say people are definitely coping about Gief being broken as well, if you're a gief main, you realise that nothing game breakingly got changed to Gief other than knee, and even then, that doesn't justify the debatable bottom 1 of the game s1 skyrocketing up to top 5, people are struggling with the GRAPPLER matchup right now, not Gief being broken. Personally characters like Ken, Luke and Blanka didn't fall off as hard as people think, they still have access to great tools and have great pokes and more time needs to be given until top 5 is obvious.

Well this was learned year one not to mention they lose a lot meter so it's not always the best option at high level. But that holding df and still blocking is kinda gross

On the topic of damage, it's hard to compare 9000 health Akuma to 850 health Akuma in USF4 or other low health characters because the damage in SF6 is just way higher. Defense in general was stronger in SF4 Akuma in sf4 never ever just got deleted. You would rarely, if ever even get killed in two hits but that happens ALL THE TIME in this game.

i'll shall add to this that they are talking of Gouki in a Tournament set of play. We still need to have in mind they're talking about the top 0.005% of players. Gouki is reaaally good up to 1.9MR. Instead of Ryu which needs a ton of good read to get value out of his kit, Gouki doesn't need crazy execution to be able to go for easy 4K average combos (i.e, st hk, st mk DRC, st HP, ex adamant, HDP for easy sample). They are also talking about Japanese meta prospective were all is about zoning and ressources managing. Gouki's best strength is about rush down, but his good tools in pure footsies are his cr.mp, cr.mk, st.hp, f.HP and f.MK. Those tools are good, but nothing incredible compare to all classical top zoning character.

Gachikun: the only thing he can do is throwing fireballs. He may sound extreme but I actually agree with this. Compared to Ken/Ryu, Akuma lacks of proper reward and corner carry in the middle of the screen. Demon flip has bunch of variations but they are not enough to make up for the health shortage. As a Ryu main, after trying out Akuma for a couple of days I feel like his strongest part is his fireball and damage in the corner. But a stronger fireball character isn't what I expected from Akuma at all.

He’s right Akuma is strong but he’s definitely not stronger than Ken nor Ryu now after the patch. They have better normals and can get the same amount of damage just about.

I'm a Juri main so maybe some bias here. But I think she's still below top 5, albeit closer to top tier than last season. Last season, people had her at the end of high tier with Marisa. Although her buffs were more negligible than other characters, she got some nice stuff, even while niche, that shores up some of her punish game. The Gachikun comment about the med or higher starters makes a lot of sense to me. I think Juri is positioned with the shotos and a few others as great Akuma heels. Not sure she wins the matchup, but it's close enough and she hits hard enough on her punishes that Akuma better take that throw. Overall I think she's in a great spot. Last season I thought she was in the sweet spot where she was very strong but not too strong; I'd argue she was where you'd want to balance most chars in the game if all could be equal. This season, I think she's a bit stronger and distinguishes herself more after the top/high tiers were shaken up a bit. Interested in other's opinions. Edit: I picked her partially because she excels at the system mechanics (see: drive rush). I think that, plus her insanely strong mids leading to an oppressive mix game, makes her a strong high tier. I hear claims for top 5, but I'd say 5 if that at best. I think she loses too hard in certain matchups esp against shoto/fireball chars like guile. I personally have her lower, maybe 6-8. Still oppressive, and hard to play against.

Nah Akuma is just mid tier🙃, still he's the only character i'll play, bt his ex zanko needs sf5 properties his zanko shouldn't vanish on hit,mid-screen adament flame juggle, & demon flip grab! Also raging demon access at 50% hp, faster red fireball charge & consistent back hk AA (10 frames startup) faster dr..Akuma top 3 only then & yes 500more health

It’s probably because raging demon is avoidable if it wasn’t the ryu buffs wouldn’t have mattered

Akuma can win, alll depends on the player. Even of I were to get a dif version of Guy I'd still stick with Guy and find a way to mastery him
